Randaia Carpenter ''Marketing Blog''


I am Randaia, a sophomore. I currently just moved back to Portland from Corvallis. I enrolled in this course because it is required for my degree, my major is more general. Business administration, I didn't plan on going to college but I already knew what I wanted to do so I figured business admin would cover more than enough. I wanted to steer clear of marketing mostly because I feel like a whole course dedicated to marketing could be overkill, but in order to be your own business you have to know something on how to advertise your brand.

Outside of the classroom, I am motivated by anything that has to do with hair. After graduating I plan on working towards opening my own sustainable beauty supply store. At first I planned on being a hair stylist, which I was for about two years. I did hair out of my house and I still have my hair page on Instagram. Come to find out standing on my feet for hours on end wasn't going to work for me, so I just tackled it at a different angle hence the beauty supply store. I like to make wigs by hand, needle and thread. Restore wigs, color, cut, and dye them. I am currently perfecting how to install them, glue less or braid less, in the most efficient and safest manner for 'your 'own natural hair.

I chose Netflix because it is something that I actually use and I'm sure hundreds of others use. I'm convinced we will have the same thoughts. Something I say and many other people: "Oh my god why is there only 8 episodes of this series?'' I chose 'H&M apologizes for Monkey imagine featuring Black child'. I chose this article because its a problem that is still relevant in 2020 and it seems to never end. The article is short and sweet hitting all key points. It gave a run down of what H&M did in 2018, which is put a African American child in a sweater that stated "Coolest monkey in the jungle". Not only did the shirt state that there were no graphical images of a monkey on the sweater. They also cited tweets from celebrities, one being the weekend. He was in disgust and decided to publicly announce he will not be doing business with them any longer. The last portion of the article is dedicated to H&M apology about their actions and said they will immediately discard the sweater and not sell it globally.
